The Thurso Surf Max is an all-around paddleboard that will easily meet the needs of a fisherman.

Thurso Surf makes a strong durable inflatable SUP board. The construction is double layer with triple and quad pvc coatings on the deck and rails.

The Thurso Surf MAX has a maximum inflation pressure of 20psi. (Although the recommended pressure is 15psi.) This indicates a strong quality construction. The confidence Thurso Surf has in their products says a lot. And you don’t see that in lower quality paddleboard brands.

For a quality paddleboard the Thurso Surf MAX has a very reasonable price.

There are two bungee systems. The deck pad is nice and large. And there are paddle holder loops on the deck.

11’6″ long and 34″ wide are perfect dimensions for a fish SUP board. Stable yet having better glide than wider paddleboards.

This is a great choice for the budget-minded fisherman who wants a good all-around type board at a reasonable price.

A nice feature is the safety side handles for giving a child a ride. With a whopping 485lb weight capacity you will always have plenty of float.

The Sea Eagle FishSUP 126 is an outstanding fishing paddle board. With a large wide deck profile for plenty of gear and super stability. When inflated this is one BIG paddle board. For a stable fishing platform the Sea Eagle 126 can’t be beat.

There is a lot to like about the Sea Eagle 126. A 500lb weight capacity! (what?) The large deck has 14 D-rings for attaching gear. The board comes with a removable swivel seat option.

There is a paddle board pocket near the nose. While it does not hold the paddle vertical is does keep the paddle secure and out of the way. There is even a small removable storage box that mounts on the nose included with this board.

Another unique feature of the 126 is the trolling motor mount. Yes, you can add a small trolling motor to the wide swallowtail stern of this board! Sea Eagle even has a trolling motor and battery made for the 126 on their website.

Like the other paddle boards on this list it comes with a paddle, backpack and pump.

If all that is not enough the price of the Sea Eagle is reasonable. This is a great choice for the fisherman who wants a big stable fishing platform, and the options of a seat and trolling motor.

The Nixy Venice is a quality all-around paddleboard that would make a fine platform for fishing. It’s a multi-purpose paddleboard that is popular with those who practice yoga on the water.

Nixy make a durable quality paddleboard. The maximum air pressure is 20psi. This is always an indicator of quality.

Plus the higher the air pressure the stiffer the paddleboard. With less flex a stiffer SUP board will perform better in the water.

The Nixy Venice G3 is lightweight at only 23lbs. Making it easy to move around.

The price is very reasonable. Paddleboards with this quality typically cost more making the Nixy Venice G3 a good value for your money.

My only problem with fishing off the Venice is the 10’6″ length. This will help with handling and maneuvering in the water. Good for fishing tight spots. But the longer paddleboards on this list (with the exception of the Sea Eagle) will glide a bit easier.

Still, for the quality and price, this will be the perfect paddleboard for the occasional fisherman who wants to enjoy family fun time on the water.

Width, Stability and Glide

When looking at fishing paddle boards always keep in mind the width. In general, the wider a paddle board the more stable it will be. However, what you gain in stability with a wide paddle board you lose in speed and glide.

Wide equals more stability but slower glide

So the wider the board the slower it is and the harder it is to paddle. If you need to paddle over a mile to your fishing spot you either want a board with a trolling motor mount or a narrower paddle board.
