Recommended SUP Gear 2

Weather & Scouting Websites

NOAA National Weather Service

Windfinder (Paddle boarders need to check the wind forecast everyday. This website is great!)

Google Earth (Good for scouting new paddle board trips)

ACA Water Trails

National Water Trails

Paddling Locations Map

Open Water Swimming

Sporti Antifog S2 Optical Goggles (These are made for people who wear street glasses. You can get your lens numbers from your eye doctor. Helpful if your blind as a bat like I am)

 Speedo Trialon Rubber Swim Fins

TYR Catalyst Stroke Training Paddles

Mack’s Pillow Soft Silicone Ear Plugs 6 Pair (best ear plugs ever)

ISHOF SaferSwimmer FLOAT Swim Buoy (Not a pull buoy, this a safety buoy so boaters and jet skiers can see you)

Dry Bags

Earth Pak Dry Bags (These are good dry bags and I like the larger sizes that have shoulder straps.)

Freegrace Dry Bags (I use these for the smaller sizes)

SUP Camping Gear

Most of my favorite sup camping gear can be found in these two posts

Extra camping gear I use (not listed in the above posts)

Car Camping Tent

Coleman Sundome Tent (Budget friendly and roomy but heavy for backcountry. I have the 4-person and use it mainly for car camping and even on a few backcountry sup trips.)

Extra Sleeping Gear

Teton Sports Universal Camp Pad (With sleeping pads I prefer to stack two foam pads. Yes I know they are bulky, but all my inflatable sleeping pads eventually sprung a leak. Reliability is important when camping.)

Therm-a-Rest RidgeRest SOLight Camping Pad (another good choice in a foam pad.)

AceCamp Foam Sleeping Pad (inexpensive alternative but cheaply made, won’t last fore-ever.)

The Big Blue Mtn Compressible Camping Pillow (I don’t find inflatable pillows comfortable, plus my inflatable pillow sprung a leak so I prefer a compress-able for reliability and comfort.)

Extra Kitchen Gear

KampMATE Wood Burning Stove (I only use this once in a while but it works well burning twigs and small pieces of wood. Of course the whole process takes much longer compared to a fuel stove. I use Fastwood Fire Sticks to get things going quicker.)

Flexible Cutting Mat

Odor-Barrier Food Bags

Cliff Bars -12 Count

Mountain House Meals

Extra Clothing I Use

Miscellaneous Camping

Foxelli Headlamp Flashlight (These are nice headlamps. Good for camping and I keep one in the glove box of my car for emergencies.)

Insect Repellent

Bear Spray

Fastwood Fire Sticks

Paracord

SOG Tactical Tomahawk
